COMMITTEES


Executive/Finance Division:

Administrative Committee:  This committee bears responsibility for efficient Chamber board management, reviews financial reports prior to board meetings and keeps board apprised of any significant unforeseen expenditures and deviations from the approved budget.
 

Budget/Financial Review Committee:  This committee reviews membership dues structure and recommends changes to the board by the April board meeting.  Helps in the preparation of the Chamber’s annual budget and works to help the Chamber achieve its financial goals.

Healthcare Issues Committee:  The focus for this committee is to look at ways to bring health and wellness to our members in a meaningful way.  This would include special speakers on health issues and coordination of chamber health insurance.

 

Membership Services Division:

Ambassador Committee:  This committee is comprised of friendly, outgoing people whose main responsibility is to promote goodwill throughout the community on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce.  They also help recruit new members, promote membership functions, and assist at Chamber activities.
 

Membership Drive Committee:  This committee will launch the yearly membership drive through letters, phone calls, emails and/or personal visits.

Membership Retention Committee:  This committee will mentor new members and provide support and contact with existing members.  They will help guide members into involvement in committees; will issue personal invitations to events and to establish a communication link between the member and the Chamber.  They will also follow up on non-renewing members inquiring into the reason for not renewing, i.e., membership overlooked, not financially able, no desire to renew or dissatisfied with the chamber.

 

Economic Development Division:

Tourism Committee:  This committee defines and develops plans to implement Chamber tourism projects and participates in joint regional promotional programs.  They will also help promote Star Valley as a viable place for business focusing on retention and expansion of existing businesses and recruitment of new businesses.

Monthly Luncheon Committee:  This committee is responsible for ensuring monthly luncheon programs are timely and relevant to the Star Valley business community and continually research new educational opportunities of significance to Chamber members.

 

Government Affairs Division:

Legislative Forums Committee:  This committee will annually select the location and date for a legislative briefing by our local legislators and interface with city, county and state government.  This committee will annually select the location and date for a candidate forum for local, county and state government.  They are responsible for marketing both forums.

Legislative Issues Committee:  This committee evaluates local and state issues pertaining to business and provides a system for members to bring concerns to the Chamber and informs members and the public about business issues.

Advocacy for Business Committee:  This committee provides oversight to advocacy efforts on behalf of members and the business community of Star Valley.  The goal of this committee is to improve the area’s business climate, build a stronger economy and ensure that public policy decisions adequately take into account the needs of businesses and the local economy to maintain and improve our quality of life.

 

Special Events Division:

Lotoja Race Committee:  This committee is responsible for scheduling of volunteers and placing of equipment, etc.  This committee is also responsible for scheduling the fundraiser event and to coordinate the food, volunteers and equipment.
