CHEYENNE, Wyo. \u2013 The Wyoming Business Council<\/a>\u00a0(WBC)\u00a0Board of Directors held a special board meeting and executive session on April 21 to establish a clear set of strategic priorities to guide CEO Josh Dorrell over the next six to 18 months. These goals reflect the Board\u2019s commitment to building a resilient, diversified Wyoming economy that works for businesses, communities, and families across every corner of the state.<\/p>\n

Following the board action, the CEO will execute on\u00a0Seven Strategic Areas of Focus:<\/p>\n

1. Build Trust and Statewide Alignment:\u00a0The CEO will prioritize open communication and transparent collaboration with the Governor\u2019s Office, the State Legislature, local governments, and economic development partners. This effort is designed to ensure strengthened partnerships as the state speaks with a unified voice on economic opportunities and investment.<\/p>\n

2. Define Wyoming\u2019s Economic Development Philosophy:\u00a0In coordination with the Board, the CEO will lead an effort to clearly define the state\u2019s role in economic development and how the Wyoming Business Council fits within that larger picture. This clarity will help all partners understand where their work connects and where the state can make the greatest difference.<\/p>\n

3. Establish Clear Measures of Success:\u00a0The CEO\u00a0 will develop a rigorous performance framework that prioritizes transparency and accountability to ensure the Legislature, the Governor, and the public can clearly evaluate that the WBC\u2019s programs and investments are delivering real results for Wyoming.<\/p>\n

4. Launch a Regional Economic Planning Framework:\u00a0Recognizing that economic conditions, needs, and opportunities vary widely across Wyoming, the CEO will lead a regional planning process to empower communities to identify shared priorities and develop locally grounded strategies that connect to a broader statewide strategy.<\/p>\n

5. Develop a Statewide Economic Development Strategy:\u00a0Building on regional input and data-driven research, the CEO will lead the development of a clear, long-term strategy for Wyoming\u2019s economic future. This roadmap will define where the state will focus efforts and resources to achieve meaningful, lasting growth.<\/p>\n

6. Recommend Improvements to Laws and Programs:\u00a0The CEO will conduct a comprehensive review of current economic development statutes and programs to identify gaps and areas for improvement. The WBC will develop recommendations in close partnership with state leaders and share them with the Legislature and the Governor\u2019s Office for consideration.<\/p>\n

7. Align Budget and Funding Strategy:\u00a0The CEO will ensure the WBC budget and staffing are aligned with the organization\u2019s strategic goals and that financial reporting is accessible, transparent, and focused on stewardship.<\/p>\n
